Command Center Upgrade

Hey all..

So today I will not be posting about my OWN projects but one of our fellow DIY'ers has done recently..

A little info..
Her Name is Andrea.. Shes as sweet as can be.. a great mom and a true friend to me..funny I say this because Ive never met her personally..
for those of you who don't know.. I'M A TWILIGHTAHOLIC..lol.. I met Andrea in a small FB group called.. "Where is Edward Cullen" . through this group we became FB friends and have just grown to be good friends.. (ok, that's my opinion, she may be like.. man this psycho keeps asking me for pictures of my DIY project..lol)

Anyways..

She is a great gal and tackled a HUGE project recently..

After doing my Command Center project where I refinished an old desk.. she decided to work on her own area as well..

Here are some pics.. and what Ive been able to gather about the project..

So here was Andrea's Command center.. I can only speak from experience.. but I have a feeling this just became what ever desk in every home becomes.. THE DROP ZONE...

She def had a great amount of space to work with..

She decided she liked the desk she just needed it to be more to her liking..

I could be wrong  but if I remember correctly her desk was laminate.. she found a way to paint on laminate through Pinterest??? i think???

This was the sanding stage of the project.. to me personally already looks 100xs better

Here is a pic of the Primer Stage.. If I also remember correctly she had to let the primer CURE for a week..
SHE HAS WAYYYYYY more patience than me.. she just followed the instructions to a t.. and of course it paid off..

Here is a pic of the paint she chose.. A paint lover after my own heart.. I LOVE me some grey.. Hence I painted a whole room in my house grey..lol.. LOVE the color..

And HERE is the finished product.. She cleaned everything up.. decluttered then put back what looks like to me in a nice organized fashion, the items she did use...

The desk came out wonderful and looks awesome..

Way to Go Andrea.. I think it added a nice dimension to the space.. I def wouldn't mind sitting down there and doing some work.. or researching on line..

Much Love and Blessings..
And thanks Andrea for sending me the pics last night for the 100th time. I kept forgetting to save them to my desktop before I deleted her texts..lol..

Do you have a DIY project you've been working on.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE email me the pics or info on the project and share it with us.. Some of you had said "You're inspiring me" Well your projects do the same for me.. Keep em coming..

Lets inspire more people to make their Houses "HOMES"

YAY!! I love you too girl! lol And yes, it was the drop zone! EVERYTHING under the sun was at this desk...it's right inside our door and hence "catches" everything! To paint laminate you don't have to sand, there's a paint you can use, but I chose to be safe and sand then prime and let it cure! I didn't want it to peel off and all the work be for nothing! The only thing I bought was the cube organizer ($29 at BigLots)the 2 baskets ($2 each) and the one picture box ($1.50). The paint was free samples from a Valspar coupon too!! :) Thank you for your inspiration, Shanun! I NEVER would have thought of doing this if you hadn't posted your blog about your command center! Now I love to sit there and take care of bills and check out our schedule! And Jon loves it when he works on his book or does some much needed FB time! XOXOX
Andrea, and Shanun there is an amazing product called, Cover stain by Zinsser - you can get it in oil or water based so you need to pay attention to what type of paint you are using as to when you can use it. But it's a spray on primer that cures, immediately. In about 20 minutes you can then paint over it. Zinsser has the longer process stuff too, but this is worth the $7 to save on the time.
I realize now I didn't state clearly it is an oil based primer.
