Lowes?? or Home Depot??

Hey all.

I know I generally dont post on the weekends but since I missed the end of the week on blogging I Decided to take some time to relax and blog.. so here ya have it..

A friend of mine recently told me about a Valspar Paint coupon.. it was a one day thing.. you go and click like on there page and they gave you a coupon for a free8 oz Valspar paint sample in whatever color you want.

WELLLLL i was able to get 2 coupons.. AWESOME right... for my guest room project I have an old chair that needs a nice paint color.. so I found a nice color and the 8oz will be more than enough for the chair..

THEN the bathroom update is coming in just 2 weeks.. I still needed to test my paint color.. my problem was this.. the color I chose was in a BEHR paint color.. I have never used valspar.. I downloaded there free mobile app but was having a hard time matching the color on my own..


SOOOO today after my hair appt.. Results below

I decided since I would be driving by Lowes on my way home that I would stop and get my paint samples..

Well as soon as I walked in the door THIS caught my eye..

We have dreamed about having one of these outdoor type awning pergola things since before we even owned a home.. well I immediatly started walking down isles to see what else I could find..

Almost every dept I went into someone ask "Hi how are you, is there something I can do to help you with your home improvement project today?" I was like.. umm HI.. no im overwhelmed by all the choices.. I just came for paint samples.. I have no idea why Im in the flooring department..lol

I FINALLY made it to the paint department.. now my challenge.. would the paint guy spit nails at me for asking my next question

"Hello how may I help you with your painting project today"

"ummmmm i need a color but its in the behr color family not valspar and you dont carry behr and I dont know how to find the color I want in Valspar.. HELP ME.."

Well he did.. thanks to my free Handy Behr paint app I was  not only able to tell him the COLOR name.. but also the numbers that go behind that little name..I found out this is an important thing.. If you ever want any paint color from one brand mixed in another brand.. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THESE LITTLE NUMBERS- IE. Below you see the name.. PINEDALE SHORES followed by letters and numbers..

He was able to mix exactly what I wanted just buy having that little name and number..

BINGO... then we discussed my current bathroom update.. which was  not going to involve a whole lot more than a few cans of paint and doing an oil rubbed bronze spray on my current plain brass finishes... That is.. Until I got home..

Hubby has decided while we can not gut and reno our WHOLE downstairs bathroom (not in the budget) a new vanity/sink however is IN the budget.. so.. we found a vanity we like in our budget...


NOW... I generally go to home depot.. however the last few time I have gone have rubbed me the wrong way.. Nothing to do with the posts you see on fb about Racism, anything people have been complaining about.. but just the overall presentaion of the stores.. Lowes had SO many more choices in the items I would generally shop for..

they had ALOT more display items.. which I need to see things FOR REAL.. not just a picture in a catalog or on line..

and as I stated before almost every department greeted me.. It was very nice..

ALSO.. my issue with home depot and generally any home store is that, as a gal.. going to typically a mens store.. Im treated as i I have no clue what a philips head screw driver is..(I watch Handy Manny and bob the builder with the kids.. I do know some things )

I was treated as if I was just the next person coming in the door needing something for a home improvement project.. I appreciated that greatly...

We will definately check out Lowes as well next time we need an item.. Both Home Depot and Lowes are about the same General distance for me to travel too..

As you can see the current FABULOUS wall paper that Im just going to cry BUCKETS over it being torn down.. NOT..

anyways.. My Mother is a wall paper removal pro.. and she will be up in 2 weeks to help me remove the wall paper in the bathroom.

This color which in Behr is called "SKIPPER" will be color where currently the wall paper resides.. the bottom trim and beadboard will all be the coordinating color which is an ASH WHITE.. its a very nice combo and it will match MUCH better with the current WHITE subway tile flooring that is on the floor now..

 

I will be posting some before and After Pics of the bathroom when I get that project going.. CHeck back soon..
