Tuesday Schmuesday

ok..

First Off.. here is todays Declutter and organizing tip from Kelly's blog

DAY 21.. MAGAZINE FILES

so its Tuesday.. and i have a case of the tuesdays fo sho...its like Monday came late for me..

trying to work through it..
HOW might you ask.. by shopping on home depot for what i need for my bathroom update.. thats right.. i have spent more time than humanly possible scouring lowes and home depot for some items i need for my bathroom update...

When the project first came about.. we decided there was no way we could afford to do a total reno on our downstairs bathroom.. even if done on a budget... its just way more than we can afford.. soo I decided how low cost could I do a bathroom UPDATE...

well the easiest thing to update a bathroom is to slap a fresh coat of paint on the walls.. to bad I have wallpaper from about 20 years ago on my walls..lol.. so the process will take longer.. Turns out my mom is a wall paper removal pro, so she will come up next weekend and help me take down the paper so I can begin painting..

ALSO.. we have mostly brass fixtures in the bathroom.. sorry but Im not crazy about the brass gold look..so thanks to pinterest and a recent project I did on refinishing some drawer handles with oil rubbed bronze spray I know I can update fixtures with spray... nice and Low cost right?? think again.. Hubby now wants a say on the project and has informed me he can not stand our pedestal sink that came with the bathroom when we bought the house.. sooooo he decided he likes the darker, espresso type vanities.. well that ruins my oil rubbed bronze spray idea..

BACK to the drawing board.. Turns out Rustoleum makes a brushed Nickel spray.. SCORE for me.. bathroom update BEGIN....

so I spent today finding the right vanity in the budget and price I can afford for this bathroom update.. I will still be spraying fixtures etc etc.. to save on cost and get things to match up in the bathroom..

Heres what will BE NO MORE..

when you enter the downstairs bathroom this is what you see.. a very decent size downstairs bathroom if you ask my opinion..

Here we have the stand up shower, as well as pedestal sink Hubby wants GONEZO.. pardon the mess.. I have not cleaned my bathroom yet this week.. obviously..

Side of shower.. and my own personal bathroom storage area on top of the cat box since there is no bathroom storage in this bathroom

A few towel racks..

A friend had suggested to me today to use an above the toilet storage rack.. but as you can see as much as I would love one.. it just wont fit... the way the ceiling comes down is due to the stairwell to the second floor being directly on the other side.

And here we have the tub area.. you can see some of the fixtures are already in the nickel type color.. but if you go back to the shower picture you can see the brassy gold look im talking about..
One of the HUGE plus's to using the rustoleum oil rubbed bronze or brushed nickel spray is they are INDOOR/OUTDOOR therefore you can use the in an area that would get wet.. such as the shower.

originally I had purhcased the BLUE color as a sample for the walls.. and the green was a sample I had bought to paint a chair.. turns out I like the green better than the blue.. however I will get it a shade lighter.. this green is to dark for me.. also the trim and beadboard will be painted white to match the white in the subway tile on the floor..

Hard to tell from a picture I took of my computer screen.. but this is the Vanity that was ultimately chosen for this update.. it looks black in this photo.. but moreso is a dark brown.. Also was happy with Home Depot.com.. I was able to chat online with a bath specialist.. i did not understand which type of faucet i needed. ie. centerset or mini spread.. turns out I need center set for the vanity we want.
Also was able to call the store and check to see if both items were available to VIEW.. not just purchase in store but VIEW.. i want to make sure I like it before I purchase it..

so this is whats happening in the next couple weeks here at the Carey house..updates and adding storage to this no storage bathroom.. I will be posting the Blog Tips each day.. but I do not know if I will be participating in all of them due to the timing of this bathroom update...

hope you all are well..

Much Love and Blessings- Shanun

I love your sink and I love that whole bathroom! And I CAN see why you want to add storage and change the wall paper though. The vanity you picked would add some storage for you, too. And in the years down the road, it does look like you can make that shower bigger. I am looking forward to seeing everything finished!

Thanks Crystal.. I dont dislike how the bathroom is set up.. and its not that whats currently in there doesnt add character.. its just not really my style.. i personally do not mind pedestal sinks.. but Hubby hates them.. so we found a solution we could both live with..lol.. as for the shower.. there will come a day that WHOLE entire bathroom is gutted and redone.. there currently along with ZERO storage is ZERO heat.. the floor is ice cold as well as the potty seat.. and the tub.. so while we probably will never add a true heat source the dream is to someday expand the shower the WHOLE entire width of that wall and do a dual shower head.. as well as move the sink to where the tub is.. we do not need 2 tubs in the house (we have a clawfoot in the master bath where the kids can take there tubbies) in the some day dream we will add radiant heat flooring so it wont be as chilly on our tootsies when in there.. but for now.. this is the budget.. im working very hard at giving my feelings of wanting more now to God.. hes provided with an amazing blessing to even update it to begin with... Much Love and Blessings..
