The Goldfish, Poptart Dilema.... SHEESH

ok.. soooooooo.. while I try my hardest to have no processed food in the house my kids feel otherwise.. we do have things such as Goldfish snack crackers and pop tarts in the house..

The Kids are just super picky about breakfast and pop tarts seem to be the go to bfast.. that or buttered toast.. anyways.. we also have snack time in the house..Goldfish or pretzels generally with on that choice.. HOWEVER.. i thought I could make what I bought 2 weeks ago last. YA NOT HAPPENING..

So.. I was actually pretty annoyed.. How did I mess up on the groceries like this.. I always have enough for the kids for 2 weeks.. I texted my irritation to my sister and she suggested checking Pinterest for a homemade Goldfish recipe and to just make some muffins the kids could eat for breakfast..

I wanted to be mad and ticked off and she ruined it with a great idea..

So.. off to the computer I went to search..

I found the Following..

Homemade Goldfish Cracker Recipe

Well this recipe was all fine and dandy, and every recipe I found talked about this homemade fishie cookie cutter.. but no one gave good instructions on how to make this.. all I knew was I needed a soda can.. but how do you cut the stupid thing..

AGAIN Pinterest..

Homemade Goldfish Cookie Cutter

Well I had one more dilemma...

the only food processor I have is a small one cup one that my Nana gave me when I was processing foods for when my kids were babies.. WAS NOT big enough for what I needed..

AGAIN.. my sister suggested the Blender

I GAVE IT A GO.. it started mixing the ingredients up pretty good.. Until the cheese clogged the blade.. SERIOUSLY.. I just wanted to make some snacks for the kids..

KITCHEN AID TO THE RESCUE..

I pulled out the kitchen aid, along with my Whisk attachment and the dough hook..

WORKED LIKE A CHARM.. probably didn't get it as sand like as it was supposed to be.. but it did the trick enough to make the dough..

Here's how it went..VISUALLY

Here is a picture of my Coke Can cookie cutter and the dough..

Lining up my little army

Off to the Baking Battle..

NOW.. I must say when I saw the dough I thought.. really?? this is supposed to make a ton of fish.. I probably should have doubled the recipe.. NO NEED.. a couple tips for you..

ROLL THE DOUGH SUPER THIN... These bad boys puff right up..
Also.. cut these like you would the process for Sugar cookies.. You roll cut then ball up the pieces that were around the cookie cutter.. and start again.. Worked out awesome.. AND the best part is they taste good.. I sprinkled a little sea salt on top.. and even took a tooth pick and dotted eyes on every stinking one..

The Verdict..

A great afternoon project.. I prefer to just buy the fish.. but if I'm ever stuck like this again.. or need a fun project with my daughter.. THIS IS IT..

KID TESTED VERDICT..

Its a tie..

My Daughter would have eaten all of them yesterday.. she said "Momma they're yummy"

My Son took one bite and spit it out.. I dunno what his deal was.. but he has granola bars he can eat ..lol.. SO we are good..

Enjoy and def give it a try.. Although the cutting out part is best for adults to the cutter being an Aluminum can..

Much love and Blessings on this Thursday morning..
