What Makes a house a HOME
Hey all..
Decided to add one more post this morning..
I got to thinking about the steps Ive been taking to make my house a home.. And don't get me wrong they are great.. My house has never been more organized and clean as it is now.. even our old apts we lived in, up until we bought our house, never cleaned or organized.. I didn't live in filth but I was not taking pride in the Blessings I had..
Now.. I enjoy a nice updated Bathroom or beautiful wall hangings just like the next person.. but what really makes a house a HOME??
Maybe to you it is a tastefully decorated home.. and that's good.. nothing wrong with wanting your home to look nice.. and maybe by having nice decorations and things of that nature give you the feeling of being HOME..
For me though (and I just realized this, this morning) its all those things Ive mentioned.. but also feeling.. that safe and secure feeling you have as a child that your HOME.. your safe in your HOME.. you have no cares or worries in your HOME.. you can run and snuggle with mom and dad in HOME..
I recall as a kid, that even though both of my parents worked full time.. they always made house a HOME for us kids.. and one thing that comes to mind is my moms baking..
She would bake.. Mainly in the fall, things like Banana bread, Swedish Apple Pies.. the smells and aromas of our house growing up were always good ones..
So on pinterest I always see the recipe to make your house smell like a William Sonoma store.. sorry but Ive never been in one.. I imagine though since the recipe is Lemons and Rosemary that it smells nice there..
I however do not keep those items on hand at all times..
I do however have, Apples, Cinnamon and Vanilla.. the smells of a Swedish apple pie..
So I put these ingredients in a pot with 2-3 Cups of water.. its currently simmering on my stove and MY WHOLE downstairs smells amazing.. I wish there was an app called.. AROMA CATCHER.. because it smells so good..
What smells bring good memories to your mind?? why not throw them in a pot of water and simmer them up...
