Project in Progress...
Hey all,
Happy Monday.. I'm sure most of you will get at least the 4th of .. So really only a 4 day work week.. FUN FUN...
What does everyone have planned?? We will be seeing the local fireworks on the 3rd and BBQing on the 4th.. probably just the hubs and I.. seems like a nice way to spend the afternoon.. BBQing up some foods the kids are picky about.. we will be able to spend their nap time outside relaxing and enjoying some food..
SOOO, Jen over at Iheart Organizing had a challenge last month.. It was allll about your outdoor spaces.. We think DIY we think a cool dresser, or adding some planters in the house, but your yard, front porch , back yard etc etc are perfect places to do some cute little DIY projects..
I did not finish by the end of June but I do have some stuff going outside..
One main thing being a dining set.. Our yard is not a huge mess but its not super pretty due to the fence. Its about 5 different styles of chain link fence around our whole yard.. DEFINITELY not in the budget this year to re fence the yard.. I tried doing some taller plants to help hide the ugliness that is all my neighbors back yards viewable through the chain link fence, but its a pretty shady area, so they are not doing so hot..
Next year we will tear up the old fence and put in a nice white vinyl 6ft privacy fence.. CANT WAIT.. until then, there had to be some projects I could do to dress up the yard..
I have about 4 Resin/Plastic Adirondack chairs that could all use a fresh coat of paint. but I just wasn't super jazzed about that project.. I really have to want to do something to do it.
A friend had given us a patio set since she was moving and no longer had room for it.. Its one of the metal frame, glass top types with some plastic chairs.. Its a super sturdy table.. Just needs to be cleaned up.. then there was the issue of the chairs.. they are not the most sturdy and my kiddos were having a hard time sitting in them.. SOOOO turn on the brain.. We had an old set of dining chairs from a few years back before we moved here and were able to get a bigger set..
I decided I hated the color.. just a natural wood color, and would paint them white, and weatherize them..
Thought I would show you a little update on the project.. The rain has been VERY present here lately so I have 2 chairs down 2 chairs to go.. ALSO.. ran out of paint..lol.. leave it to me..

Here we have the set and an overview of our yard..
We have a decent cement pad that holds the table very nicely.. no real need for an umbrella as there are 2 HUGE trees adding nice shade and a breeze in this area..
One of the chairs in its natural color..
I had started by using some of the primer I used on the recent dresser project but it was just adding to many brush strokes and a mess to be honest.. was not good for this project.. So I picked up a can of Rustoleum Painters Touch/Paint and primer in 1. COVERED beautifully.. takes about a can a chair for the right coverage.. Sooo 2 more cans and we will be in business.
Then comes the challenge of weatherizing them.. I spoke in detail with a gentleman at home depot and he directed me to a special can of minwax.. Its a clear coat safe for outdoors.. Looks like it could work.. I have just never done this type of project before.. so i could have some pretty ugly chairs when I am done.. WHO KNOWS.. as soon as we have some good weather I will definitely be letting you all know..lol.
Much Love and Blessings on this Monday morning..
